Athiradi OTT Release: Athiradi, the Malayalam action-comedy featuring Tovino Thomas and Basil Joseph, is gearing up for its digital debut after completing its theatrical run. Directed by Arun Anirudhan, the film arrived in cinemas on May 14, 2026, following a paid premiere a day earlier. The movie brought together a cast that included Tovino Thomas, Basil Joseph, Riya Shibu, Vineeth Sreenivasan, and Zarin Shihab.

The film follows Samkutty, popularly known as "Sam Boy," a civil engineering student who sets out to revive his college's once-popular Aarohan festival. The event had been banned by the management years earlier following a stampede incident that disrupted a previous edition of the fest.

After joining the same college, Samkutty takes on the challenge of bringing Aarohan back. His plans gain momentum when he succeeds in securing Vineeth Sreenivasan as a guest performer for the event. However, things soon take an unexpected turn when a series of incidents lead to a clash with Sreekuttan Vellayani, a former goon with aspirations of becoming a singer.

Following a public humiliation during the festival preparations, Sreekuttan creates chaos by kidnapping Vineeth Sreenivasan and musician Shaan Rahman. The situation throws the event into uncertainty, forcing Samkutty and his friends to step in and find a way to rescue them before the festival is derailed.

The screenplay was penned by Arun Anirudhan and Paulson Skaria, while the film's music was composed by Vishnu Vijay. Cinematography was handled by Samuel Henry and editing by Chaman Chakko.

The film was produced by Basil Joseph and Dr. Ananthu S, with Sameer Thahir and Tovino Thomas serving as co-producers. As for its OTT release, Athiradi has been officially scheduled to begin streaming on SonyLIV on June 19. However, regular viewers of the platform have often noticed that several Malayalam titles have become available several hours ahead of their announced release date. Based on that pattern, there is speculation that Athiradi could start streaming on the afternoon of June 18 itself, though SonyLIV has not issued any separate confirmation regarding an early rollout.

When it becomes available on SonyLIV, the film is expected to stream not only in Malayalam but also in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi, allowing viewers across different language markets to watch it from home.
