Damarukam is the highest grosser in Nag's 26 years long career . Due to the frequent postponements of the release, distributors backed off from race to acquire the rights of the film for hefty prices. To release the film at any cost, the makers have sold the theatrical rights at low prices although the making costed a bomb. This came as a blessing in disguise for the distributors and buyers as they recovered their investment already and most of them entered into profit zone. On the other hand, RR Movie Makers incurred a huge loss due to the astronomical budget, nominal price for rights and release issues.
